Biologists Take Wins in Olympiad

We had 18 A Level biologists take part in the British Biology Olympiad (11 Year 12 students and 7 Year 13s).

The British Biology Olympiad is designed for year 13s and is a competition run in conjunction with the Royal Society of Biology. It aims to stimulate students with an interest in biology to expand and extend their talent, and to be suitably rewarded with publicly recognised certificates. In total over 10,000 students from more than 700 schools worldwide took part in this year’s competition with our students receiving these awards: 4 Golds, 4 Silvers, 2 Bronzes, 2 Commended, 6 for Participation. Congratulations to Josh, Charlie and Alex (Year 13) and Ameline (year 12) for achieving a Gold award, and to all of the year 12s who did particularly well!  The four students who obtained a Gold award have gone on to the first round of the UK team selection for the International Biology Olympiad which takes place in Kazakhstan in the summer.  We wish them luck!
